The classic Greek fable, Pandora's Box, tells the tale of Pandora, the first woman on earth. She brought with her a box that the gods had warned her never to open. But her curiosity was too strong, and at last she raised the lid. From the box all the sins and evils, cares and troubles in the world sprang. Pandora shut the lid as quickly as she could, but everything escaped except one thing. That thing was hope, which alone remained to console man.
